Stage 1 Pre-Writing
To achieve our writing goals, we spent a little bit of time planning during our Pre-Writing stage.
The best writing comes from 1) strong feelings and/or 2) personal experiences. So choose one small moment that stirs up strong emotions or that you personally experienced.
We also completed a Draw-Label-Caption. Draw for 1 minute, Label for 5 minutes and write a Caption in 1 minute. If you run out of things to label then it's a great idea to use our Paint strategy. Also your caption can become the title of your piece.

Writer's Workshop Sample 1
I run a class website much like a virtual classroom, flat classroom or flipped classroom. I dedicate one section to Writer's Workshop samples so students can have any-time access for support. These mainly consist of screen-shot notes from my IWB with a few photographs and supporting notes. I thought it may be nice to share as part of PD Bites. I have made 3 Samples so far which I will post in the PD Bite's blog entries to follow. As you know Leigh Ann and I are huge Steve Peha fans and draw on his work heavily, again credit and our thanks to goes to him.
I hope you find them helpful. Although they may be useful to you they are designed for students so please go ahead and use it to help your kids in class. Any feedback in the comments below from yourself or your students will be greatly
ProDivas is a simple sharing approach, teacher to teacher, for our professional development. We collect and share bite-sized practical ideas. Once you take a bite, you may be self-motivated to eat the whole meal! We aim to find ideas supported by research to then apply for “best practice” but some ideas are too good to miss and are just simple “teacher tips”.
