One resolution I made for myself was to do more professional reading on a regular basis. Well, I should say any professsional reading because I was sadly lacking in that department! Luckily, there are tons of online journals available that give you access to the latest peer-reviewed research in various fields of education. Here is one that I found: The International Reading Association. It gives you access to various reading education journals which are a rich source of articles, studies and teacher tips all grounded in current research. So far, there are too many articles and not enough time! You can check it out for yourself at www.reading.org.
ProDivas is a simple sharing approach, teacher to teacher, for our professional development. We collect and share bite-sized practical ideas. Once you take a bite, you may be self-motivated to eat the whole meal! We aim to find ideas supported by research to then apply for “best practice” but some ideas are too good to miss and are just simple “teacher tips”.
